You make all things new...

Tonight at church I was reminded again of the way God makes things new. Vann talked about being in New Orleans in the months after the storm and how everything was brown and dead and life less. But when we went over spring break everything was so green. It wasn't until recently he made this connection and it wasn't till he pointed it out that I have too. I choose to serve a God who makes all things new, even a city in despair. And while things are still moving slow and the signs of the storm will remain for the years to come, the grass is new and green and the magnolia trees are blooming and the streetcars are running. And tonight I can't help but think about how dead my heart has been and how God can make it new as well. Sometimes I feel like I've forgotten that part of the story.

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:17-18

My heart cries out for you. I know how it is to have a dead heart and how it becomes numb and almost cynical in the midst of things. I am praying that He does something to change that.
