I ended up having a busier week than I had anticipated. On Monday I realized that the person who ussually writes the script for camp was not going to be able to write it. So on top of everything else, I needed to write a "hip-hop" musical version of the story of Moses- it's ok go ahead and laugh at the thought of me trying to write such a thing. For a while it seemed like nothing was going right for camp. We have way too many kids, we only got a third of the money we needed from the grant we applied for, our script fell through, some of our adult help didn't work out, and list goes on. However, after spending the week trying to figure out what rhymes with locusts... I can't help but think about how me and Perry and so many people at Carrollton are just like Moses. I am beyond unqualified to write, direct and choreograph a play for innercity kids. I have no rhythm, and I am so NOT cool at all- at least not in comparision to the kids I work with. Furthermore the church is the least likely place for 45 kids to come for camp. Mainly, we don't have any money, and we don't charge the kids who come. And yet, God makes a way for camp to go on (we got so many generous gifts from lots of great Godly people!), for us to make room for a few more kids than we had last year, and for me and Perry (and the lovely Jenny) to write (well, it's almost done...) a script about Moses that actually rhymes. What a miracle. And in case you were still wondering- focused rhymes perfectly with locust. :-) I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.
